Engineering Intern – Data Center Operations

About the role

The Engineering Intern will support client service requests and assist with the day‑to‑day operations of Digital Realty’s data centre in Maputo. The role focuses on ensuring smooth data‑center operations, technical interventions, and compliance with safety and service standards.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical customer service support, perform operational interventions, and respond to alarms according to the escalation matrix.
• Assist with implementation of technical projects, including equipment setup, commissioning, de‑commissioning and documentation.
• Monitor and audit power consumption, perform tool and power audits, and update the Patch Manager.
• Support maintenance and repairs of generators, UPS and other equipment, and supervise contractor work.
• Participate in 24x7 on‑call rotation and act as first point of contact for technical requests and escalations.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical & Electronics, Mechanical, Mechatronics or a related engineering field.
• 0–3 years of experience in telecommunications, electromechanical environments or general engineering.
• Strong troubleshooting ability and root‑cause analysis skills.

Required skills

• Microsoft Office (Excel) and Service Management applications.
• Knowledge of network infrastructure and measurement tools.
• Understanding of electromechanical systems in data‑center environments.
