Head of Support Services (Financial Director) – Mozambique

About the role

The Head of Support Services (Financial Director) will be based in Maputo and will lead the development and management of finance, accounting, HR and logistics functions for Nitidæ’s expanding programmes in Mozambique.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and oversee administrative, financial, HR and logistics structures and tools to ensure donor compliance.
• Manage budgeting, financial reporting, audit coordination and cash‑flow forecasting for multiple projects.
• Supervise payroll, accounting entries, bank reconciliations and the rollout of the SAGA software.
• Lead the support team, conduct performance reviews and ensure HR policies, recruitment and staff administration comply with Mozambican law.
• Define procurement workflows, manage logistics, assets and security arrangements for field operations.

Required profile

• Fluent in Portuguese and English; French a plus.
• Master’s degree (Bac+5) in Finance, Accounting or Management.
• 3‑5+ years experience leading support services in an international NGO with institutional funding.
• Familiarity with donor requirements (AFD, EFI, Enabel, EU, GIZ).
• Demonstrated integrity, autonomy and strong intercultural skills.

Required skills

• SAGA financial software implementation and use.
• Financial reporting, budget tracking and cash‑flow forecasting.
• Audit coordination and preparation of donor financial reports.
• Payroll systems, accounting entry validation and bank reconciliation.
• HR policy implementation, recruitment and staff administration.
• Procurement workflow design and logistics coordination.

What we offer

• Gross annual salary of approximately €40,000.
