Health, Safety & Security Lead (m/f)

About the role

The Health, Safety & Security Lead reports directly to the HSS Director and is responsible for developing, implementing and maintaining health, safety and security policies for a prestigious energy company. The role ensures compliance with local regulations, project and lender requirements, and industry best practices across all project activities.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, implement and maintain health and safety policies and procedures in line with regulations and best practices.
• Conduct regular risk assessments, create mitigation strategies, and ensure every activity has a comprehensive risk assessment.
• Implement and monitor a permit‑to‑work system and promote health and safety programs for employees and contractors.
• Carry out safety audits and inspections, lead incident investigations and root‑cause analyses, and enforce the use of personal protective equipment.
• Pre‑qualify and audit contractors, review their HSS plans, and oversee their performance on site.
• Develop and maintain emergency response plans, organise drills, coordinate with local emergency services and lead incident response teams.
• Develop and enforce security policies, manage security contractors, conduct security assessments and coordinate with law enforcement.
• Promote safety interventions, conduct safety stand‑downs, walk‑abouts and ensure competency of personnel.

• Reports directly to the HSS Director.
• Ensures employees and contractors have the right competencies for their tasks.
• Promotes safety interventions and maintains visible leadership on site.
• Escalates risk situations, incidents and emergencies promptly to senior management.
