HSE Head – Major LNG Construction Project

About the role

We are seeking an experienced HSE Head to lead health, safety and environment activities for a major LNG on‑shore construction project in Afungi, Mozambique. The role will drive a zero‑incident culture across a large, multi‑thousand‑person workforce and ensure contractor compliance with HSE standards.

Key responsibilities

• Implement the project HSE policy across the construction battery limit.
• Provide HSE assurance for all contractor activities and promote a strong safety culture.
• Ensure compliance with relevant HSE regulations and maintain a safe work environment.
• Conduct regular inspections of contractor work locations and verify adherence to health‑safety plans.
• Lead or support incident investigations, root‑cause analysis and corrective‑action follow‑up.
• Report daily, weekly and monthly HSE performance metrics.
• Oversee contractor HSE performance monitoring, training compliance and action‑close‑out.
• Assist in preparing toolbox talks and other HSE communications.
• Deputise for the HSE Manager as required.

Required profile

• Recognised HSE qualification or equivalent technical/tertiary education.
• Minimum 15 years HSE experience in oil & gas, with at least 5 years on LNG projects.
• Proven experience on large, complex construction sites and managing multi‑thousand‑person workforces.
• Extensive background in contractor HSE oversight and incident investigation.
• Demonstrated ability to lead, coach and develop teams.
