HSE Superintendent – EPCI Upstream Team

About the role

An HSE Superintendent position for the EPCI upstream team in Afungi, Mozambique, on a rotational basis (28 days on, 28 days off) under an annually renewable contract, starting as soon as possible. The role provides oversight and assurance of HSE activities for onshore and nearshore works and leads a team of HSE supervisors.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee and assure HSE activities for onshore and nearshore works in Afungi and advise project and contractor personnel on HSE systems, processes and procedures.
• Support project delivery teams in delivering the HSE plan and ensure clear reporting to stakeholders.
• Lead HSE engagement with contractors, promote an incident-free mindset and manage a team of HSE supervisors, including indirect reports from contractor and subcontractor HSE teams.
• Monitor contractor and subcontractor activities, support incident investigations, and ensure accurate HSE statistics and reporting.
• Contribute to safety studies, audits and reviews, including management of change, and review contractors' safe systems of work such as permit to work, risk assessments and toolbox talks.
• Represent the company in weekly construction meetings and ensure major construction risks, including transportation safety and heavy lifting, are mitigated.

Required profile

• Minimum 10 years of experience in the oil and gas industry and related HSE experience.
• Recognized HSE qualification, such as a NEBOSH diploma or equivalent.
• Current BOSIET and OGUK medical certification.
• Fluent English and ability to represent the project professionally before all stakeholders.

Required skills

• Ability to lead and coordinate HSE investigations, establish root causes, roll out learnings and conduct detailed HSE audits.
• Strong interpersonal skills to train, coach, mentor and influence contractors and contractor personnel.
