HSE Superintendent – Maputo

About the role

We are seeking an experienced HSE Superintendent to lead the development and implementation of the Health, Safety and Environment Management System for Eni Natural Energies in Mozambique. Based in Maputo, you will provide technical supervision and support across agriculture, logistics, processing, storage and port operations.

Key responsibilities

• Support implementation, monitoring and maintenance of the HSE Management System across all project activities.
• Provide HSE advice to office and field teams, ensuring safe operations with minimal environmental impact.
• Implement environmental programmes, manage permits and ensure compliance with local legislation.
• Develop and drive HSE initiatives, campaigns and safety culture improvements.
• Report, investigate and close incidents, communicating lessons learned and corrective actions.
• Maintain HSE performance statistics, KPIs and regular reporting to the Project Manager.
• Conduct inspections and audits, identify non‑compliance and recommend improvements.
• Support the creation and execution of an Emergency Response Plan for all activities.
• Participate in pre‑job, planning and contractor meetings, providing HSE guidance.

Required profile

• Degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of HSE experience in oil & gas, construction, industrial or agro‑processing environments.
• Knowledge of ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 standards.
• NEBOSH, IOSH or equivalent internationally recognised HSE certification.
• Strong leadership, team‑building and communication skills, with ability to work across cultures.
• Willingness to work in remote and challenging conditions.
