National WASH Project Officer

About the role

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is seeking a National WASH Project Officer to support the implementation and monitoring of water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) activities across Northern Mozambique, including Cabo Delgado, Nampula and Niassa provinces. Reporting to the WASH Programme Manager and under the overall supervision of the Chief of Mission, the officer will ensure that projects are delivered on time, within budget and to the required quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and review technical specifications, bills of quantities (BoQ) and drawings for WASH infrastructure.
• Monitor project scope, schedule, quality and budget, and flag any changes or delays.
• Manage inventory of WASH supplies and coordinate asset movements with warehouse and field teams.
• Support the drafting and administration of MoUs, contracts and close‑out procedures with service providers and implementing partners.
• Provide guidance to partners, monitor their activities and ensure compliance with international, national and donor standards.
• Plan and oversee procurement processes to guarantee effective use of resources for beneficiaries.

Required profile

• Relevant university degree (e.g., Engineering, Environmental Science, Public Health) or equivalent experience.
• Proven experience in WASH project implementation, monitoring and reporting.
• Familiarity with procurement, contract management and inventory control in humanitarian contexts.
• Ability to work collaboratively with multiple stakeholders, including government, NGOs and IOM units.
