About the role
Operating in a multicultural, geographically dispersed organization, the Payroll Officer ensures accurate and timely monthly payroll processing while handling confidential employee data. The role works under strict monthly deadlines and collaborates closely with HR, Finance, Legal, IT, banks, authorities, managers, and employees.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare and process accurate monthly payrolls for TEMMOC and SAMCOL.
- Validate payroll inputs such as new hires, terminations, salary changes, allowances, overtime, bonuses, deductions, leave, and attendance.
- Perform pre‑payroll and post‑payroll controls, investigate variances and maintain approval evidence.
- Reconcile payroll results with Finance, resolve discrepancies and ensure timely payment of salaries, taxes, social security contributions and benefits.
- Prepare and submit statutory declarations and reports (IRPS, INSS, NUIT, INE).
- Maintain confidential employee records in physical and digital formats and ensure data consistency across HR4U, Power Pay and other HR systems.
- Administer employee bank‑account documentation and coordinate payroll payment files with banking partners.
- Respond to employee payroll queries, produce payroll reports, dashboards and headcount analyses, and support internal and external audits.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Management, Law, Organizational Psychology or a related field.
- At least five years of end‑to‑end payroll or HR experience.
- Strong knowledge of Mozambican payroll legislation, personal income tax, social security and employment requirements.
- Fluency in Portuguese and English.
- High standards of integrity, confidentiality, accuracy and ability to meet strict payroll deadlines.
Required skills
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word and email tools.
- Experience with payroll or HR information systems; Power Pay and HR4U are a plus.
- Strong numerical, analytical and reconciliation abilities.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and maintain detailed documentation.
