About the role
The Project Director is responsible for leading the successful delivery of large‑scale marine construction projects. This role carries full accountability for project P&L, execution strategy, and delivery performance, ensuring projects are completed safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
Key responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate activities to meet client requirements, contract terms, and time‑cost parameters.
- Coach and mentor project managers working under the Director.
- Establish organizational chart and project processes to ensure proper team functioning.
- Address process malfunctions and motivate staff effectively.
- Validate contractual options—technical, financial, or time related—and legal matters with the legal department.
- Manage contractual and financial follow‑up, budget control, and approve all project engagements.
- Conclude supply and sub‑contracts after preparatory work, including pre‑contract quality and performance audits.
- Engage in social contacts and public relations to benefit the company.
- Coordinate with third parties, negotiate with contractors, suppliers, and subcontractors throughout the project life cycle.
- Implement project budgets, allocate resources, enforce standards, conduct technical reviews, and manage the team.
Required profile
- Proven experience working with Tier 1 marine contractors.
- Willingness to work on a rotational schedule of 6 weeks on‑site followed by 3 weeks off.
- Minimum 15‑20 years of experience in marine construction.
- Current or recent experience as a Project Director or Senior Project Manager.
- Experienced people and team manager with strong listening and consensus‑building skills.
- Advanced understanding of contract management.
- Natural organizer with deep knowledge of process management.
- Deep technical and practical knowledge of marine construction works.
- Ability to rapidly assess issues, develop alternative solutions, and implement pragmatic strategies.
- Excellent internal and external communication and high‑level negotiation skills.
- Professional, entrepreneurial, results‑oriented attitude with high flexibility and adaptability.
- Commercially gifted and fluent in English; additional European language (French or Portuguese) is an asset.
- Willingness to relocate as required by business needs.
