Security Coordinator (Layer 3) – Rotational

About the role

The Layer 3 Security Coordinator will operate on a 28‑day on / 28‑day off rotational schedule in Pemba, Cabo Delgado, Mozambique. The role supports protection‑force personnel, manages convoy logistics, and ensures security compliance for all socioeconomic and stabilization activities in the assigned area.

Key responsibilities

• Mentor protection‑force staff to implement Voluntary Principles of Security and Human Rights (VPSHR) guidelines while maintaining operational readiness.
• Organise logistical movements and contractor convoys, coordinating escorts and ensuring adherence to security SOPs.
• Provide security support and up‑to‑date threat awareness for socioeconomic projects.
• Report security situations, threat escalations, and daily road safety assessments to management.
• Monitor consumption rates (food, fuel, water) and ensure compliance with HSE standards and the 12 golden rules.
• Collaborate daily with local authorities, state security forces, private security firms, and community representatives.

Required profile

• Experience working in high‑risk environments, preferably in the security or protection sector.
• Ability to work in isolated, tropical conditions with long hours and malaria risk.
• Strong organisational skills for convoy planning and logistical coordination.
• Excellent communication with diverse stakeholders, including contractors and local communities.

Required skills

• Knowledge of security standard operating procedures (SOPs) and VPSHR principles.
• Proficiency in HSE compliance and safety culture promotion.
• Capability to assess and report threat levels and road safety conditions.
