Senior Backend Engineer – Elixir

About the role

RemoteRemote is building a global HR platform that lets companies hire, pay, and manage international teams. As a Senior Backend Engineer you will design and ship secure, reliable, and scalable services that power our automation and AI‑driven features.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain backend services using Elixir and Phoenix.
• Build and evolve APIs and integrations for core product verticals.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams (frontend, SRE, QA) to deliver end‑to‑end features.
• Implement CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and deployment processes on AWS.
• Contribute to system architecture, performance tuning, and scalability improvements.

Required profile

• Strong engineering fundamentals with a proven track record of shipping production‑grade systems.
• Experience designing or iterating on automation/agentic workflows.
• Ability to think in systems: write clear specs, break down work, instrument verification, and ensure quality.
• Professional experience with PostgreSQL or similar relational databases.
• Hands‑on experience with CI/CD tools such as GitLab, GitHub, or Jenkins.
