Senior Program Officer – WASH (EpiC Project)

About the role

FHI 360 is seeking a Senior Program Officer to join the EpiC Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) team in Maputo, Mozambique. The SPO will act as the operational hub linking technical staff, sub‑partners, and internal functions to ensure that WASH technical assistance is delivered on schedule, meets quality standards, and complies with donor and organizational requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Provide day‑to‑day coordination, tracking and quality‑assurance support for all WASH activities.
• Work closely with the Senior Technical Advisor – WASH to monitor progress against the workplan and prepare timely deliverables and reports.
• Coordinate consultants, technical staff and sub‑partners, ensuring alignment with finance, operations and M&E teams.
• Design and manage in‑country sub‑awards, defining selection processes and ensuring they match project objectives.
• Maintain systems, trackers and processes that promote consistency, coherence and high‑quality outputs across the project.
• Identify risks, escalate issues as needed, and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in program coordination or project management within WASH, public health or international development.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow up persistently on deliverables.
• Excellent judgment for risk identification and issue escalation.
• Proven ability to work collaboratively with technical, financial and monitoring teams.
