Transportation Consultant (ET) – 1-year contract

About the role

The World Bank is seeking an Extended Term (ET) Transportation Consultant to support the design, implementation and supervision of transport projects in Mozambique and neighboring countries. The role focuses on urban mobility, road networks, regional connectivity and logistics, contributing to the Bank’s broader development agenda.

Key responsibilities

• Support preparation, implementation and supervision of transport projects, including BRT, road, port and airport initiatives.
• Conduct technical, economic, financial, climate, gender and road‑safety analyses, and collect data such as traffic counts and road‑condition assessments.
• Provide technical inputs, peer reviews, consultant oversight and progress reviews to ensure compliance with World Bank standards.
• Prepare analytical outputs – reports, briefs, case studies, technical drawings, maps and presentations.
• Assist in organizing World Bank workshops, client meetings and stakeholder engagements.

Required profile

• Master’s degree or higher in civil/transport engineering, urban planning, economics, public policy, finance or a related field.
• Minimum 2 years of practical experience in the transport sector or related infrastructure field, with exposure to design, contract management, procurement or asset management.
• Familiarity with transport policy, institutions and cross‑cutting issues such as climate change, road safety and gender considerations.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Portuguese.

Required skills

• Proficiency with AutoCAD or similar drafting tools.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
