Access to Finance Specialist – Market-Based Approaches Project

About the role

Palladium is seeking an Access to Finance Specialist to support the USAID/BHA Market‑Based Approaches for Sustainable Livelihoods activity in Cabo Delgado Province, Mozambique. The role focuses on identifying financing opportunities and delivering business and financial literacy training to internally displaced persons (IDPs) and returnees transitioning from food assistance to sustainable livelihoods.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and facilitate medium‑to‑long‑term access to finance for Economic Recovery and Market Systems (ERMS) beneficiaries.
• Design and deliver training‑of‑trainers (ToTs) on business skills and financial literacy.
• Collaborate with formal and informal financial institutions to uncover barriers and develop inclusive financial products.
• Build and maintain relationships with private and public sector actors within the financial ecosystem.
• Strengthen inclusive finance mechanisms such as village savings and loan associations (VSLAs) targeting smallholder farmers, IDPs, and other vulnerable groups.
• Perform any additional tasks assigned by the Deputy Team Lead.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in economics, business, finance, international development, or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in banking or financial services.
• Experience in agricultural value‑chain finance and donor‑funded programs is preferred.
• Mozambican nationality or permanent residency.
• Fluent written and spoken English; Portuguese and local languages (e.g., Makua‑Lomwe, Tsonga, Shona) are a plus.
