Livelihoods Officer – Project Implementation

About the role

The Livelihoods Officer will lead the implementation of agricultural and livelihood activities in a designated district, working closely with local authorities, partner organisations and community members. This role focuses on improving food security and resilience for vulnerable families through sustainable farming practices.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, implement, monitor and document all field activities related to agricultural production and livelihood improvement.
• Build and maintain relationships with district agriculture services, government authorities and other World Vision projects.
• Distribute agricultural inputs, poultry and facilitate the formation of farmer groups.
• Lead drought‑resilient training and supervise smallholder farmers.
• Conduct regular data reviews with the MEAL team and develop technical assistance plans.
• Establish communication channels to enable district government ownership of the project.
• Represent the project at community, district and provincial partner meetings.
• Maintain information and feedback mechanisms at project and district levels.
• Participate in weekly Bible study and support staff spiritual development.

Required profile

• Minimum five years of experience in agricultural or livelihood project management.
• Strong management, supervisory and capacity‑building abilities.
• Excellent presentation skills and ability to communicate effectively in English; Portuguese is an advantage.
• Self‑motivated, able to work independently under pressure and prioritize workload.
• Good interpersonal skills, cross‑cultural sensitivity and interest in advocacy and well‑being.
