Radiology Technologist (PRN) – Clinical Imaging

About the role

We are seeking a PRN Radiology Technologist to provide high‑quality imaging services in a surgical setting. The successful candidate will interact directly with patients, ensure safety protocols, and produce diagnostic images for radiologist interpretation.

Key responsibilities

• Interview patients to obtain history, explain safety procedures, and assess contrast media contraindications.
• Maintain compliance with state, federal and accrediting body standards for radiology.
• Clean and disinfect X‑ray equipment and handle biohazard materials safely.
• Monitor radiation safety signs, dosimeter badges, and document exposure according to policy.
• Position patients correctly for scanners, provide breathing and communication instructions, and adjust protocols as needed.
• Enter accurate patient information into the computer system and select appropriate imaging protocols.
• Transport equipment and patients safely, preventing injury and equipment damage.
• Produce images that meet optimal quality standards for radiologist interpretation and complete archiving for each patient.
• Perform duties across X‑ray, C‑arm fluoroscopy, CT, and procedural technology based on certifications and competencies.

Required profile

• Graduate of an AMA‑approved Radiologic Technology program.
• Minimum two years of experience as a technologist in a surgical environment.
• Current CPR certification.
• Registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists or eligibility and licensure by the Louisiana State Board of Radiologic Technologists.
• Effective oral and written communication skills and basic computer proficiency.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a team to ensure quality patient care.
• Strong critical‑thinking abilities.
