Packaging Machine Specialist

About the role

The Packaging Machine Specialist is responsible for keeping production equipment in "as new" condition, ensuring reliable and efficient plant performance. The role involves inspections, corrective and preventive maintenance, root‑cause analysis, and supporting continuous improvement in a packaging and bottling environment.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct safety, health and environmental compliance checks and maintain high housekeeping standards.
• Inspect, maintain and repair production equipment, plan shutdowns and execute preventive and corrective tasks.
• Perform root‑cause analysis, implement corrective actions and drive equipment performance improvements.
• Provide technical support to shift teams, troubleshoot faults, guide operators on autonomous maintenance and support equipment recovery.
• Participate in maintenance planning, document work in SAP and help reduce maintenance backlog.
• Coach operators and artisans, share technical knowledge and promote a culture of continuous learning.

Required profile

• NTC5/N5 Technikon qualification or National Diploma in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering.
• 1‑3 years mechanical/electrical experience in FMCG and 3‑5 years in packaging or bottling production.
• Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting abilities and knowledge of maintenance reliability principles.
• Ability to coach operators, plan work, and communicate effectively with teams.
