Mine Planner – Open-Cut Coal Mining

About the role

The Mine Planner will be responsible for creating and maintaining detailed mine plans for an open‑cut coal operation in Tete. The role combines technical design, optimisation of pit layouts and coordination with geology, survey and operations teams to ensure production targets are met safely and efficiently.

Key responsibilities

• Develop short‑term (3‑month) and medium‑term (up to 2‑year) mine plans and schedules using Minex.
• Design and optimise pit layouts, haulage routes and dump configurations to balance strip ratios and coal quality.
• Perform reserve estimation, pit sequencing and real‑time adjustments to meet production targets.
• Integrate survey and drone data, create 3‑D models and ensure compliance with safety, geotechnical and hydrogeological standards.
• Prepare technical reports and present progress updates to management.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering.
• Minimum 3 years experience in open‑cut coal mine planning.
• Fluency in Portuguese and English (written and spoken).
• Knowledge of Mozambique mining regulations.
• Ability to read and interpret plans and specifications.

• Proficiency with Minex mine‑planning software.
• AutoCAD.
• Global Mapper.
• Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
