Packaging Machine Specialist

About the role

The Packaging Machine Specialist is responsible for keeping production equipment in an "as new" condition to ensure reliable and efficient plant performance. The role combines routine inspections, preventive and corrective maintenance, root‑cause analysis and technical coaching of operators within a fast‑paced FMCG packaging and bottling environment.

Key responsibilities

• Inspect, maintain and repair packaging and bottling equipment, executing planned preventive and corrective tasks.
• Perform root‑cause investigations, implement sustainable solutions and drive continuous‑improvement initiatives.
• Provide specialist technical support to shift‑based teams, guide operators on correct machine operation and autonomous maintenance.
• Participate in maintenance planning meetings, contribute technical input to schedules and manage SAP maintenance documentation.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental policies, conduct safety inspections and maintain safe workshop conditions.

Required profile

• NTC5/N5 Technikon qualification or Trade Test in Electrical, Mechanical or Millwright disciplines; National Diploma in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
• 1‑3 years of mechanical/electrical experience in an FMCG environment and 3‑5 years in packaging or bottling production.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and planning abilities with a high safety awareness.
• Effective communication skills and the ability to coach operators and technical teams.
