Carbon Project Manager – Mozambique

About the role

We are seeking a Carbon Project Manager to lead the planning, coordination and execution of baseline and monitoring surveys, stakeholder consultations and related activities for BURN’s carbon‑financed Improved Cook Stove (ICS) projects in Mozambique. The role ensures projects are delivered on time, within scope and on budget, from inception through to the issuance of carbon credits.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain a detailed project Gantt chart covering all tasks from project start to carbon credit issuance.
• Prepare full project budgets, expense reports and support documents for each carbon process stage.
• Coordinate location selection, quality audits and compliance monitoring in partnership with the MRV Coordinator.
• Organise and lead local stakeholder meetings, baseline surveys, kitchen performance tests and annual monitoring activities, including logistics, recruitment and training of field staff.
• Track project compliance with internal controls, program requirements and verification standards, escalating risks as needed.
• Travel domestically and internationally as required to oversee field data collection and project implementation.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing complex environmental or carbon‑finance projects.
• Strong budgeting and financial reporting abilities.
• Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple timelines and stakeholders.
• Willingness to travel frequently within Mozambique and abroad.
