Compliance Manager – Mozambique

About the role

The Compliance Manager will develop, implement and oversee the organisation's compliance framework in Mozambique. This role ensures adherence to legal, regulatory and governance requirements while supporting the business to achieve its strategic objectives in an ethical manner.

Key responsibilities

• Determine statutory and management requirements and ensure effective implementation and monitoring of all legislative obligations.
• Develop and maintain a risk matrix, linking rules to processes and assessing compliance accordingly.
• Implement policies, procedures and a compliance program to embed a strong compliance culture.
• Monitor compliance through regular reviews, audits and reporting, and provide ad‑hoc regulatory advice.
• Maintain and update the compliance manual and establish relationships with internal stakeholders such as Legal, HR, Internal Audit and external regulators.
• Lead disciplinary proceedings when necessary and represent the organisation on compliance matters.
• Participate in projects from a compliance and legal risk perspective, and develop training content for staff.
• Comment on draft legislation, liaise with regulators and key third parties, and keep up‑to‑date with industry‑specific regulatory frameworks.

Required profile

• Degree in Finance, Legal or Business recognised by the ISSM (essential).
• Registered Compliance Officer with the ISSM (essential).
• Admitted Attorney (desirable) and Post‑Graduate Diploma in Compliance Management (desirable).
• 8–10 years of compliance‑related experience.
• 3–5 years of management experience.
