Environmental Lead (M/F) – Project & Compliance

About the role

The Environmental Lead will report to the Environmental Manager and HSSE Director, supporting the delivery of environmental, health, safety and social compliance for a major oil & gas project. The role involves coordinating with consultants, project teams and contractors to ensure all regulatory requirements are met and environmental impacts are properly managed.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee preparation of Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA), Environmental and Social Health Impact Assessments (ESHIA) and Environmental Management Plans (EMP).
• Develop, coordinate and implement the project’s regulatory compliance plan and environmental management plan.
• Obtain required project permits, licences and approvals in a timely manner and track compliance status.
• Interface with design and execution teams to integrate company environmental standards into project designs.
• Provide input to EPC/EPCI contractors on environmental documentation, cost and schedule estimates for regulatory approvals.
• Review and approve contractors’ environmental and regulatory (E&R) plans, including waste management and spill response plans.
• Guide project and contractor teams on regulatory compliance, monitoring procedures and mitigation measures.
• Assist the Environmental Manager with special studies, reports and any additional E&R tasks.

Required profile

• University degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Proven experience in environmental compliance within the oil & gas sector.
• Familiarity with host‑country environmental regulations and permitting processes.
• Strong ability to work with multidisciplinary project teams and external consultants.
