Environmental Site Officer (m/f)

About the role

The Environmental Site Officer will support environmental licensing and compliance activities on‑site for a multinational energy company. You will work closely with project managers, contractors and authorities to ensure that all field operations meet regulatory and corporate environmental standards.

Key responsibilities

• Organise public participation meetings and coordinate authorities and consultants for environmental licensing.
• Monitor implementation of the Project Environmental Management Plan (EMP) and prepare daily performance briefings.
• Conduct daily site inspections, identify deviations, and propose corrective actions.
• Assist the site environmental manager in promoting environmentally sound practices across the site.
• Participate in incident investigations, internal and external audits, and environmental awareness programmes.
• Prepare environmental inventories, reports and analytical summaries of data trends.
• Provide guidance to contractors on compliance requirements and ensure alignment with regulatory and corporate standards.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Biology, Ecology, Environmental Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of relevant environmental management experience, preferably in the energy sector.
• Experience with renewable energy projects, especially hydropower environmental monitoring.
• Fluency in English and Portuguese (both written and spoken); Nyungwe language is a plus.
• Ability to work effectively with technical, HSS, social performance and community relations teams.
