Finance Officer

About the role

FHI 360 is looking for a Finance Officer to support a health‑nutrition project in Zambezia and Nampula provinces. The role is based in Maputo and reports to the Senior Finance Officer, ensuring accurate financial management and compliance with donor and Mozambican regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Process and initiate payments through online banking, ensuring proper documentation and approvals.
• Monitor and reconcile accounts payable and enter payments in the GFAS financial system.
• Maintain accurate accounting records of all financial transactions.
• Monitor daily project bank balances, prepare bank and cash reconciliations, and conduct monthly cash counts.
• Support monthly financial close activities and ensure audit‑ready filing of documents.
• Maintain communication with banking institutions, manage foreign exchange transactions and currency conversions.
• Prepare and submit beneficiary payment lists and manage bank account signatories and documentation.
• Support administrative processes such as vendor registration, contract management, and operational expense tracking.
• Ensure all financial and administrative procedures comply with FHI 360 policies, donor regulations, and local laws.

Required profile

• Qualified local candidate with experience in finance or accounting.
• Ability to work under the supervision of the Senior Finance Officer.
• Familiarity with Mozambican financial regulations and donor compliance requirements.

Required skills

• Proficiency with the GFAS financial system.
• Experience using online banking platforms.
• Knowledge of bank reconciliation and cash handling procedures.
• Understanding of foreign exchange and currency conversion processes.
