Gender and Humanitarian Expert (National UN Volunteer)

About the role

UN Women Mozambique is seeking a National UN Volunteer to lead gender‑responsive humanitarian programming. The expert will guide the integration of gender equality priorities across the humanitarian cycle, ensuring the protection and participation of women, girls, men and boys.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the Gender in Humanitarian Action (GiHA) portfolio, providing policy guidance and strategic advice to UN Women and partners.
• Design, implement and manage gender‑responsive programmes in northern Mozambique, including proposal development and results‑based delivery.
• Monitor programme performance, financial implementation and partner reporting, preparing donor and impact reports.
• Provide technical assistance and capacity‑building to humanitarian coordination structures, clusters and women‑led organisations on GiHA, GBV, PSEA and accountability to affected populations.

Required profile

• Proven experience in gender and humanitarian programming, preferably in conflict‑affected or climate‑crisis contexts.
• Strong knowledge of GiHA, Women, Peace and Security, GBV in emergencies, and protection standards (PSEA, AAP).
• Ability to advise senior management, develop strategies, workplans and budgets.
• Excellent coordination, communication and stakeholder‑engagement skills.
