HSE Superintendent – Oil & Gas

About the role

The HSE Superintendent will oversee health, safety and environment activities for contractors and subcontractors on an upstream oil & gas project. Reporting to the Pemba RSES and the TEPMA1 HSE Manager, the role ensures safe and efficient operations in line with project HSE plans and contractual obligations.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor contractor performance, provide HSE guidance, and represent the company in weekly construction meetings.
• Participate in safety studies, audits, Management of Change (MoC) reviews, and hazard identification processes.
• Review and support contractors' safe systems of work, including PTW, risk assessments, and toolbox talks.
• Assist in incident investigations, ensure accurate HSE statistics, and act as the focal point for HSE reporting.
• Drive HSE initiatives, ensure audit and performance reports are circulated to stakeholders.
• Mitigate major construction risks such as transportation safety and heavy lifting operations.

Required profile

• Diploma or certification in a relevant field and a recognized HSE qualification.
• Minimum 10 years of HSE experience in the oil & gas industry.
• Fluent in written and spoken English.
• Strong interpersonal skills to train, coach, and influence contractors and stakeholders.
• Ability to conduct root‑cause investigations and detailed HSE audits.
