Inspector AIA (SPM) – Pressure Equipment Inspection

About the role

The Inspector AIA (SPM) is responsible for ensuring legal compliance and safe operation of pressure equipment at Sasol’s Temane site in Mozambique. Reporting to the Operational Model Entity Inspection Authority, the role conducts in‑service inspections of vessels, steam generators, accessories, storage tanks and piping, supporting the Risk Based Inspection (RBI) programme.

Key responsibilities

• Perform in‑service inspections in accordance with the Pressure Equipment Regulations (PER), SANS 10227, SANS 17020 and internal procedures.
• Compile inspection reports, issue repair recommendations and ensure documentation is up‑to‑date.
• Support phase and total shutdowns by providing inspection data that validates RBI‑approved frequencies.
• Verify equipment condition after repairs or changes to maintain integrity and minimise downtime.
• Act as the SANAS‑accredited technical signatory for inspection findings.

Required profile

• Certified In‑service Inspector with SANAS technical signatory status.
• Legal accountability for inspection of pressure equipment.
• Experience with RBI systems and ability to interpret regulatory standards.
• Strong documentation skills and attention to safety compliance.
