Logistics Operations Officer – Trucking & Shunting

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Logistics Operations Officer to lead trucking, shunting and container transport activities in Maputo. The successful candidate will coordinate daily dispatch, manage depot operations and ensure seamless movement of containers from port to client sites.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate daily truck dispatch and optimise route planning.
• Manage container transport, shunting activities and depot operations.
• Track vehicle movements, identify and resolve operational delays.
• Oversee container documentation, including EIRs, PODs and transport records.
• Liaise with transporters, terminal operators, depots and clients to ensure smooth operations.
• Ensure driver compliance with safety standards and operational procedures.
• Produce daily operational and KPI reports for management review.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years’ experience in container transport, freight forwarding or port logistics.
• Diploma or degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Transport Management or a related field.
• Proven experience managing truck fleets and shunting operations.
• Strong understanding of container logistics, EIRs, depot operations and shipping documentation.
• Excellent planning, communication and problem‑solving abilities.

Required skills

• Advanced Microsoft Excel.
• Experience with Transport Management Systems (TMS) – advantageous.
