Packaging Engineer – Strategic Maintenance Lead

About the role

The Packaging Engineer will take strategic leadership of the maintenance function for packaging equipment, ensuring safe, healthy and risk‑free operations while complying with all relevant standards, legislation and corporate governance.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain a safe working environment and ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental legislation.
• Oversee maintenance of packaging mechanical plant, equipment and instrumentation, including calibration and integrity checks.
• Develop, update and enforce engineering standards and documented procedures across the zone.
• Implement and sustain planned maintenance pillars, failure‑analysis processes and spares strategies.
• Manage small‑scale site projects, budgeting, cost control and financial reporting.
• Lead human‑resource activities, employee development and industrial‑relations climate.
• Ensure high workmanship quality from the maintenance team and apply change‑control practices.

Required profile

• Engineering degree (Mechanical or Electrical).
• 2–3 years of experience as a sectional engineer in the FMCG industry.
• Minimum 3–6 months of on‑the‑job training in a similar maintenance role.
