Principal Project Engineer – Lead Project Engineering

About the role

The Principal Project Engineer leads the engineering scope of complex EPC projects, ensuring that deliverables meet quality, technical, and contractual requirements. Working with minimal supervision, the role combines deep project‑engineering expertise with the ability to coordinate multi‑disciplinary teams across offices.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the engineering scope for McDermott projects and develop project procedures that align with contract documents.
• Lead functional teams or act as Project Engineering Manager for medium‑size projects, overseeing technical execution, safety, and cost‑schedule control.
• Prepare and implement the Project Execution Plan, Division of Responsibility matrix, and coordination procedures.
• Supervise Project Engineers, review technical queries, design deviations, RFIs, and approve weekly/monthly management reports.
• Coordinate third‑party interfaces, handle change management, and ensure effective communication among engineering disciplines.
• Support proposal preparation for new projects and contribute to lessons‑learned documentation.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in project engineering within EPC or construction environments.
• Proven ability to lead engineering teams and manage large‑scale technical projects independently.
• Strong understanding of contract requirements, safety standards, and engineering documentation processes.
• Excellent communication and coordination skills across multi‑office settings.
