Senior Tax & Compliance Officer

About the role

The Senior Tax & Compliance Officer will be responsible for managing all tax obligations of SGS Technologies in Mozambique. Reporting to the Chief Accountant, the role ensures timely filing of tax returns, compliance with local legislation, and provides strategic tax advice to senior management.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare, review and submit corporate tax returns (IRPC, IRPS, IVA, withholding taxes) accurately and on time.
• Develop and implement tax planning strategies to optimise the company’s tax position while maintaining full legal compliance.
• Liaise with the Autoridade Tributária de Moçambique (AT) and represent the company during tax audits and inspections.
• Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of Mozambican tax legislation and assess regulatory impacts.
• Oversee transfer pricing documentation and ensure compliance with applicable rules.
• Ensure compliance with INSS (social security), labour law and sector‑specific regulations.
• Monitor filings with the Conservatória do Registo Comercial and other government bodies.
• Develop, implement and maintain internal compliance policies, procedures and controls.
• Conduct periodic internal compliance reviews and risk assessments.
• Prepare management reports on tax liabilities, compliance status and potential risks.
• Support month‑end reporting, year‑end audit processes and coordinate with external auditors.
• Advise on tax implications of new business activities, investments and cross‑border transactions.

Required profile

• University degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation or a related field.
• Extensive experience in corporate tax compliance and reporting in Mozambique.
• Strong knowledge of Mozambican tax legislation, INSS, labour law and transfer pricing rules.
• Proven ability to interact with tax authorities and manage audit processes.
• Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills.
