Accountant – Forestry & Biological Assets (Full-Time)

About the role

The Accountant will manage the full financial and accounting control of biological assets within the forestry sector. Based in Maputo, you will ensure accurate daily recording, prepare financial analyses, and support strategic decisions to drive sustainability and profitability.

Key responsibilities

• Daily recording and reconciliation of all financial transactions.
• Management of accounts payable and receivable, invoice issuance, and fiscal archiving.
• Preparation and submission of tax obligations (VAT, Corporate Tax, Payroll Tax, Social Security).
• Management of fixed assets and depreciation, with a focus on the truck fleet.
• Preparation and monitoring of the annual budget and monthly forecasts.
• Treasury management, including cash, bank accounts, inflows and outflows.
• Operational cost analysis (fuel, maintenance, salaries, spare parts) and support for service pricing.
• Investment planning, financial return evaluation, and identification of financial risks.
• Supervision of administrative/accounting assistants and representation before tax authorities, social security, banks, and suppliers.

Required profile

• Degree in Accounting, Finance, Management or a related field.
• Minimum 4 years of experience in a similar role, preferably within the forestry sector.
• Proven experience with forestry and biological assets.
• Strong knowledge of Mozambican tax and labour legislation.
• Analytical mindset, detail‑oriented, and results‑driven.
• Excellent communication, responsibility, and ethical conduct.
