Base Manager – Logistics Operations

About the role

The Base Manager will lead the logistics hub at Pemba, ensuring safe, efficient and cost‑effective operations for our oil‑and‑gas client. Reporting to the Logistics Manager, you will oversee the day‑to‑day activities of the base, its facilities and the associated service contracts.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the on‑site emergency response team and enforce the Company Code of Conduct and HSE policies.
• Organise and follow‑up safety meetings, incident investigations and HSE tours.
• Supervise refurbishment, maintenance and daily operations of the base facilities, camp services and offices.
• Manage contracts for logistics services, conduct Service Quality Meetings and monitor contractor performance.
• Oversee quay operations at Pemba Port and crew‑change operations at Pemba Airport.
• Plan and coordinate storage, land transport, marine and aviation logistics support for the SED and other entities.
• Coach logistics teams in yard management, warehousing, base design and best HSE practices.
• Maintain accurate stock reconciliation, KPI reporting and contribute to annual budget preparation.
• Develop, update and enforce logistics procedures to meet statutory and company requirements.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing a logistics base or similar operation in the oil‑and‑gas sector.
• Strong knowledge of HSE standards and emergency response planning.
• Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage external contractors.
• Excellent organisational skills with a focus on cost control and continuous improvement.
• Fluent in English; knowledge of Portuguese is an advantage.
