Base Manager – Logistics Operations (Onshore Support Base)

About the role

The Base Manager will lead all logistics activities for the Pemba support area, covering the Muxara base, representative office, port jetty and airport. The role also serves as the Responsible for Safety and Environment on Site (RSES) for all logistics operations in the region.

Key responsibilities

• Act as RSES, set safety and environmental objectives, lead the Emergency Response Team and manage incident investigations.
• Oversee daily logistics operations across multiple sites, including base refurbishment, warehouse management, quay handling (≈3 vessels/week) and airport crew‑change flights (up to 5/day).
• Manage storage and handling of up to $100 M of drilling equipment, reconcile physical stock and supervise a fleet of 30 trucks and lifting equipment.
• Administer more than $80 M of logistics contracts, conduct Service Quality Meetings, verify timesheets and invoices, and support annual budgeting.
• Lead a team of five direct reports, recruit local staff, and coach personnel in warehousing, yard management, HSE and operational best practices.
• Develop and maintain logistics procedures, produce regular KPI reports and ensure governance compliance.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing large‑scale logistics operations in a heavy‑industry or drilling environment.
• Demonstrated ability to oversee high‑value inventory and complex transport chains (marine, land, aviation).
• Strong background in HSE leadership, emergency response and safety compliance.
• Experience handling multimillion‑dollar contracts, budgeting and financial follow‑up.
• Leadership skills to manage multidisciplinary teams across several locations.
