Budget Transparency & Social Accountability Internship – Mozambique

About the role

UNICEF Mozambique is seeking two interns to support budget transparency, school accountability and community engagement in the provinces of Nampula and Zambezia. The internship will be based in Maputo and the interns will work under the supervision of the Social Policy Officer, contributing to the design and implementation of public information and social accountability tools.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in developing citizen‑friendly versions of planning and budgeting documents and simplified communication materials on education financing.
• Support the creation of public information templates, school transparency boards and disclosure tools for schools and local authorities.
• Help document good practices and lessons learned on budget transparency initiatives.
• Support the development and testing of school‑level accountability and transparency tools, and assist in assessing how schools communicate resource information.
• Collect and analyse data on transparency practices adopted by schools and School Councils.
• Engage with School Councils, Parent Associations and community representatives, and document community perspectives.

Required profile

• Under supervision of the Social Policy Officer within UNICEF’s Social Policy team.
