Program Officer – Education and Peacebuilding (Including Gender Mainstreaming)

About the role

The Program Officer will join the MCC Mozambique team to support partner organisations in designing, implementing and evaluating education and peacebuilding projects that integrate gender mainstreaming. Working from the Beira office, the role involves regular travel to remote project sites to provide technical assistance and ensure high‑quality reporting.

Key responsibilities

• Accompany partner organisations in project planning, design and implementation, focusing on vulnerable communities.
• Conduct regular field visits (up to 50% travel) for monitoring, coaching, and capacity‑building in monitoring, evaluation and procurement processes.
• Collect and analyse data for program monitoring, impact assessment and reporting to MCC headquarters.
• Prepare narrative and financial reports, summarise activities for annual reports and publicity.
• Support the Country Representative with government liaison and stay updated on relevant legislation.

Required profile

• Commitment to MCC Mozambique’s values.
• Minimum five years of experience in Program Monitoring, Evaluation and Reporting (PMER) or Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL) within the education and peacebuilding sector.
• Experience working in an INGO environment; experience in rural Central and Southern Mozambique is desirable.
• Bachelor’s degree in Community Development, Peace Studies, Education, Sociology or a related field.
