Civil Engineering Contracts Manager - Mozambique

About the role

A major civil engineering project in Mozambique is looking for an experienced Contracts Manager. You will lead the contracts function, covering contractual administration, risk mitigation and dispute resolution, and mentor a high-performing contracts team. You report directly to the Commercial Manager, with functional accountability to the Head of Contracts & Commercial Department, and supervise a Contract Administrator. You may also cover the Commercial Manager's duties in their absence.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the administration of main contracts and subcontracts
• Develop and maintain the subcontract suite and contractual documentation
• Lead dispute management, claims handling and contractual correspondence
• Manage delays, extensions of time and contractual notices
• Support arbitration, adjudication and litigation processes
• Advise the Project Management Team on contractual risks and mitigation measures
• Supervise, mentor and develop contract administration staff

Required profile

• BSc in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, Civil Engineering or a related discipline
• MSc in Law
• MRICS or MCIArb accreditation (or equivalent)
• 15+ years of contract management experience
• Proven success in formal dispute resolution proceedings (arbitration, adjudication or litigation)
• Leadership experience managing contracts teams

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of standard forms of contract, particularly the FIDIC suite
• Exceptional organisational and communication skills
