About the role

The Communications Associate (PSA) will support the Inclusive Growth in Mozambique (IGM) and Strengthening Capacity to Access Climate Finance (FORÇA) projects implemented by UNU‑WIDER in close collaboration with the Ministry of Planning and Development (MPD) in Maputo. Working under the Partnerships and Programme Officer and alongside the Project Coordinator, the incumbent will provide operational assistance across communication, monitoring & evaluation and knowledge‑management functions to promote evidence‑based policy making on climate finance.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop and disseminate communication materials (briefs, newsletters, web content) that translate research findings into accessible messages for policy makers and stakeholders.
  • Support the monitoring and evaluation process by collecting data, preparing progress reports and contributing to impact assessments.
  • Maintain knowledge‑management tools, update databases and ensure timely sharing of project outputs with the National Directorate for Climate Finance (DNFC) and other partners.
  • Coordinate with DNFC leadership and other government counterparts to align communication activities with national priorities.
  • Assist in organizing workshops, webinars and events to showcase project results and facilitate stakeholder engagement.

Required profile

  • University degree in communications, journalism, development studies or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience in producing communication materials for development or climate‑finance projects.
  • Strong analytical mindset with ability to work with monitoring data and produce concise reports.
  • Excellent written and oral English; proficiency in Portuguese is an advantage.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multicultural environment and liaise with government officials.

Required skills

  • Professional writing and editing for policy‑oriented audiences.
  • Content creation for web and social media platforms.
  • Basic knowledge of monitoring & evaluation frameworks.
  • Familiarity with knowledge‑management systems and data visualization tools.
