Communications and Marketing Officer

About the role

The Communications and Marketing Officer will support the Mozambique programme team and the MozWater Project by delivering high‑quality communication, knowledge‑management and marketing outputs. Working closely with the Regional Communications & Marketing Manager, the role ensures that all communication and marketing activities are delivered on time, within budget and in line with IUCN’s brand standards.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement communication and marketing strategies and workplans that raise the visibility of the water programme.
• Produce a range of high‑quality communication products, including publications, policy briefs, web stories, press releases, multimedia and social‑media content.
• Manage production processes and external contractors to ensure timely delivery of materials.
• Provide communication and marketing support for events, including media relations, virtual‑platform management and audio‑visual material creation.
• Coordinate knowledge‑management activities, capturing and sharing insights across the programme.
• Maintain media relationships and promote programme initiatives through targeted campaigns and storytelling.
• Oversee procurement of communication equipment and supplies in line with IUCN internal controls.

Required profile

• University degree in communications, marketing, journalism, public relations or a related field.
• 7–10 years of professional experience in communications, marketing, event management or campaign implementation, demonstrated through a portfolio of work.
• Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision and to collaborate with partners, donors and private‑sector stakeholders.

Required skills

• Content Management System (CMS) proficiency.
• Social‑media strategy and best‑practice implementation.
• Graphic design, photography and video‑editing techniques.
