Deputy Construction Director

About the role

We are looking for a Deputy Construction Director to lead the execution of construction projects, ensuring safety, quality, schedule and cost objectives are met. The role reports to senior leadership and oversees multidisciplinary teams on‑site.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the team to deliver successful projects and execute the construction plan on‑site.
• Develop and maintain a competent construction execution plan, including safety, quality, client interface, cost, and schedule.
• Drive a strong HSSE culture, integrating safety and environmental awareness into daily activities.
• Provide constructability input during design and develop a construction organisational plan aligned with project documents.
• Visit sites, evaluate conditions, and ensure all direct reports understand the Project Execution Plan.
• Coordinate field management, quality, safety, material management, procurement, construction engineering, HR, and other support functions.
• Monitor labour, equipment and material availability to support construction effort.
• Control budget and schedule adherence, manage change orders, and prevent scope creep.
• Ensure accurate field estimates, resolve technical and operational issues, and maintain plan alignment throughout project evolution.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing large‑scale construction projects and multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong understanding of construction HSSE standards and ability to embed them into project culture.
• Excellent problem‑solving skills for complex technical, operational and organisational challenges.
• Ability to communicate the Project Execution Plan clearly to all stakeholders.
• Leadership capability to act as a front‑line business manager and drive performance.
