Deputy Cost Control Manager & Finance Interface

About the role

Airswift is seeking a Deputy Cost Control Manager & Finance Interface Lead for a major LNG project in Mozambique. This senior, six‑month renewable position supports the Cost Control Manager and bridges Cost Control with Finance to ensure accurate reporting, forecasting and compliance across a multi‑billion‑dollar project.

Key responsibilities

• Support the Cost Control Manager in coordinating cost control activities across the project.
• Lead and manage a team of cost controllers.
• Oversee budgeting, forecasting and cost‑reporting processes, consolidating monthly and annual reports.
• Monitor project costs, commitments and cash‑flow projections, ensuring tracking against approved budgets.
• Manage all Owner Costs, including budgeting, change management, invoice verification and commitment management.
• Identify and monitor cost risks and opportunities throughout the Life of Project.
• Act as the primary interface between Cost Control and Finance, supporting monthly close, accrual validation and cash‑call preparation.
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards, cost‑recoverability requirements and lead internal/external audits (including SOX).
• Align cost structures with finance systems such as SAP, WBS and cost centres.
• Liaise with project teams, contractors, finance and external stakeholders, providing cost performance insights for decision‑making.
• Mentor and develop cost control professionals and step in as Cost Control Manager when required.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification (Level 6).
• Minimum 10 years’ experience in cost control or finance within large‑scale energy or infrastructure projects.
