Deputy Cost Control Manager & Finance Interface (Resident, Maputo)

About the role

We are looking for a Deputy Cost Control Manager who will also act as the Finance Interface for a multi‑billion‑dollar LNG project based in Maputo. The role supports the Cost Control Manager and ensures robust cost governance, budgeting and financial integration across project stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Deputise for the Cost Control Manager in all cost control activities.
• Lead a team of cost controllers handling Owner’s Costs.
• Oversee budgeting, forecasting, cost reporting, commitment tracking, change management and cash‑flow projections.
• Consolidate monthly and life‑of‑project cost reports and drive annual budget preparation.
• Monitor cost risks and opportunities, supporting budget holders with mitigation plans.
• Serve as primary interface between Cost Control and Finance, coordinating accrual reviews, cash calls, inter‑company reconciliations and audit requirements.
• Ensure compliance with joint‑venture accounting and cost‑recoverability rules.
• Support SAP cost‑control structure implementation (WBS, cost centres, allocation methods) and lead audit activities.
• Promote cost awareness and financial discipline throughout the project organisation.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Engineering, Business or related field.
• 10+ years of experience in cost control, project controls, finance or cost engineering on large oil & gas or LNG projects.
• Proven leadership experience managing and developing teams.
• Fluent English; French or Portuguese advantageous.

Required skills

• Advanced SAP user experience.
• Strong Excel skills.
