Distribution Controller

About the role

We are looking for a Distribution Controller to oversee distribution performance, optimise processes and ensure delivery targets are met while maximising resource utilisation.

Key responsibilities

• Lead implementation of Distribution Process Optimization (DPO) across the department.
• Lead departmental projects and negotiate contractor costs for optimal pricing.
• Review and manage machine and manpower resources.
• Oversee team development, performance management and set individual goals.
• Prepare strategic financial‑year plan and contribute to the Depot Business Plan.
• Review master data, process mapping, service level management and routing.
• Develop and manage the departmental annual budget (fixed and variable costs).
• Plan peak‑period sizing, scheduling and high‑volume SLA planning.
• Manage customer and driver master data and conduct bi‑annual customer service evaluations.
• Plan and execute trade visits to ensure compliance.
• Oversee full beer return process and safety monitoring.
• Manage 3PL contractors, drive performance improvements and monitor fleet utilisation.
• Ensure compliance with statutory requirements and vehicle contingency planning.
• Analyse distribution performance metrics and implement corrective actions.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading distribution or logistics teams.
• Ability to develop and execute strategic plans and budgets.
• Strong negotiation skills with contractors and service providers.
• Experience in managing master data, SLA compliance and performance reporting.
• Knowledge of fleet management, safety monitoring and regulatory compliance.
