Emergency Response Coordinator – Oil & Gas

About the role

The Emergency Response Coordinator will lead the emergency preparedness and response programme for a prestigious oil and gas company operating in Mozambique. Reporting to senior managers, the role ensures compliance with company policies, local legislation, and best‑practice standards while fostering a safety‑first culture across all contractors and subcontractors.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the primary coordinator during emergency incidents, drills, and exercises.
• Develop, implement and maintain emergency response (ER) systems, documentation and duty rosters.
• Review contractor ER documentation for compliance and provide feedback.
• Monitor the effectiveness of ER plans, conduct audits, inspections and post‑incident reviews.
• Deliver training, exercises and competency records for ER personnel.
• Support business continuity and incident management plans alongside the CM/ER Manager.
• Ensure operational readiness of all emergency response equipment, including firefighting assets.
• Provide on‑site assurance for contractor ER activities and aviation safety at helipads/airstrips.

Required profile

• University degree in a relevant discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in emergency response, HSE or related fields.
• Strong knowledge of Mozambique emergency response, health and safety legislation.
• Proven leadership ability to inspire safety commitment across diverse teams.
