About the role
The Fisheries Project Supervisor will lead the fisheries team responsible for resettlement and the fish‑to‑dish program within a large oil and gas company. Reporting to the Land Access Programs Manager and the Social Performance Vice President, the role ensures effective implementation of upstream fishing strategies and livelihood restoration initiatives.
Key responsibilities
- Lead and mentor the fisheries project implementation team, overseeing recruitment, onboarding, coaching and upskilling.
- Coordinate logistics, HSE training, equipment provision and security escorts for field teams.
- Prepare and update Statements of Work for contracting implementation partners.
- Design and manage monitoring and evaluation frameworks, indicators and budgets for fisheries programs.
- Oversee implementation partners, contractors and consultants, ensuring technical and financial compliance.
- Assess household progress on livelihood restoration, rank households and justify changes.
- Identify risks to affected persons, especially vulnerable groups, and propose mitigation measures.
- Conduct regular site visits, support field staff with technical issues, and contribute to mid‑term and final performance reviews.
- Act as focal point between partners, government, affected households and the wider community, ensuring safety, health, environmental and social standards are met.
Required profile
- University degree in rural development, economics, sociology, geography or a related field.
- Minimum 10 years of experience delivering livelihood re‑establishment and development programs in rural fisheries settings.
- Proven track record managing implementation partners, including technical and financial oversight.
- Experience with large‑scale resettlement and both land‑based and non‑land‑based livelihood restoration programs.
- Fluency in Portuguese and English (written).
