Lifting Supervisor – LNG Project in Mozambique

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Lifting Supervisor to lead lifting operations on the Mozambique LNG project in Afungi. The role ensures all lifts are carried out safely, following approved plans, method statements and project requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise lifting operations in line with approved lifting plans, risk assessments and method statements.
• Conduct pre‑lift briefings and toolbox talks in Portuguese and English, confirming responsibilities and emergency procedures.
• Verify load weight, centre of gravity, lifting points, crane configuration and operating radius against the approved plan.
• Ensure cranes and accessories have valid inspection records, proper identification and sufficient rated capacity.
• Establish exclusion zones, safe access routes and suitable load landing areas.
• Monitor weather, visibility and surrounding activities, stopping work when conditions become unsafe.
• Report incidents, near misses and equipment defects, and maintain lifting records and shift handovers.

Required profile

• Fluent in Portuguese and English, spoken and written.
• Previous experience as a Lifting Supervisor on construction sites, supervising crane operations and lifting crews.
• Recognised lifting supervisor qualification or certification acceptable to the project.
• Strong leadership with the authority to stop unsafe work.
• Willingness to work on a 75‑day on / 21‑day off rotation in Afungi, including day or night shifts.
