Logistics Assistant

About the role

The Logistics Assistant will support the WHO Pemba Sub‑Office and the Health Emergency team in planning, constructing and equipping health facilities across Cabo Delgado. Working on‑site in Pemba, the role focuses on managing medical and non‑medical supplies, overseeing warehouse operations and coordinating construction activities for treatment centres, water points and waste areas.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the WHO Incident Manager and health operation lead in logistical management of the local warehouse following standard procedures.
• Support the planning, construction and outfitting of Cholera Treatment Centres, Oral Rehydration Points and Primary Health Care Clinics.
• Coordinate loading, unloading and transport of cargo, and supervise daily workers involved in construction and site preparation.
• Collaborate closely with the pharmacy technician, supply‑chain coordinator and logistics procurement teams.
• Identify needs for medical and non‑medical items, track inventory and ensure timely delivery to field sites.

Required profile

• Experience in humanitarian or health‑sector logistics, preferably in emergency settings.
• Ability to work under the supervision of senior WHO staff and in close partnership with multi‑disciplinary teams.
• Strong organisational skills and capacity to supervise field workers.
