Operations Geologist

About the role

The Operations Geologist will supervise geological activities on a rotating rig schedule, supporting exploration, appraisal and development wells. The role combines on‑site oversight with office‑based analysis to ensure safe, cost‑effective drilling operations.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise daily geological operations of one or two rigs, including well preparation, acquisition program follow‑up and real‑time data QA/QC.
• Coordinate contracted services, perform basic real‑time petrophysical interpretation and post‑well analysis.
• Ensure strict compliance with HSE rules, participate in safety systems and report incidents.
• Maintain up‑to‑date HSE certifications and complete required trainings.
• Co‑organise risk assessments, pre‑job meetings and review procedures for specific operations.
• Conduct HSE and technical audits of service companies both offshore and onshore.
• Prepare and deliver post‑well studies for complex wells, including HP/HT and narrow‑window wells.

Required profile

• Master’s degree or equivalent (Level 7) in Geology or related field.
• 3‑5 years of operations geology experience, with at least 2 years as a wellsite geologist.
• Deep offshore drilling experience, including HPHT and complex wells.
• Fluent English communication skills.
• Strong situational awareness, decisive judgement under uncertainty and ability to coach stakeholders.
