Operations Lead (Senior Manager)

About the role

GiveDirectly is scaling its Mozambique program and needs an Operations Lead to build and manage the country’s operational backbone. Reporting to the Country Director, you will oversee procurement, logistics, HR and administration, ensuring the team can deliver cash transfers at scale.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the Mozambique operations team, covering procurement, logistics, administration and HR.
• Provide line‑management to the Office & Procurement Manager and Human Resources Manager, fostering high‑performing specialised teams.
• Design and document clear roles, responsibilities and SOPs to enable independent, high‑standard operations.
• Develop and implement cost‑effective systems and processes to support program growth, including strategic partnerships and technology solutions.
• Run regular analyses on speed, cost, resilience and controls to drive measurable back‑office improvements.
• Identify and pilot AI or digital tools that increase operational scalability.
• Oversee procurement and administration functions, ensuring compliance and efficiency.

Required profile

• Strong operational expertise in procurement, logistics and HR.
• Proven leadership ability to build, mentor and scale teams.
• Comfort operating in a fast‑paced, non‑hierarchical environment with limited precedent.
• Bias toward action, practical problem‑solving and data‑driven decision making.
