Product Risk Officer – Product Governance & Risk Management

About the role

The Product Risk Officer will oversee the full Product Development Lifecycle, ensuring that every product launched, modified, or retired complies with internal governance, regulatory expectations, and the bank’s risk frameworks. This role acts as the central hub for risk assessment, remediation, and governance reporting across the product portfolio.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the proposal and development phases of new products, guiding business units to produce comprehensive product papers for approval.
• Ensure pre‑ and post‑launch conditions are met on schedule and coordinate post‑launch risk reviews.
• Maintain the product register, manage the PRGC pack, minutes, and meeting logistics in line with the approved Terms of Reference.
• Escalate any breaches or overdue actions to the Product Risk Governance Committee (PRGC) and drive timely resolution.
• Address findings from internal audits, regulatory reviews, and control assessments; track and report product risk events, including dormant products.
• Measure and report monthly product risk KRIs, ensuring any out‑of‑appetite indicators have remediation plans.
• Align product risk practices with the Enterprise Risk Management Framework and Operational & Resilience Risk Management Framework.
• Serve as the liaison between country and centre for NAPA and product risk reporting, presenting updates to senior leadership.

Required profile

• Higher Diploma in Business, Commerce or Management Studies (required).
• Strong understanding of product risk governance, regulatory compliance, and risk management frameworks.
• Proven ability to coordinate cross‑functional teams and manage stakeholder expectations.
